Ashtray

This ashtray has no discerning decorations which suggest that the emphasis was more on the functional shape of the object rather that then on the decorative pattern. The most common decorations on Malay brassware tend to be floral and vegetation within geometric or calligraphic motifs. These motifs were either engraved or embossed onto the object.
