Triptych lamp

This brass triptych lamp is a variation of the traditional lamps of Kerala. It is one of the typical ritual objects used during 'puja' or worship at home and in temples. The symbolic meaning of the two side branches is not known. In the most Tamil Hindu temples, the 'shodashopachara puja' or 16 forms of worship is customarily practised during festive occasions.
