Carved panel

This carved panel comes from a Minangkabau ancestral home or 'rumah gadang'. Following the matrilineal system, where inheritance is passed from mother to daughter, the rumah gadang is owned by the women of the family. However, it is not merely a residence; it also serves as the gathering point for family councils and ceremonial activities.
