Royal cap

This velvet cap from northern India is embellished with Sanskrit verses as well as a large “Om” embroidered in zardozi. Zardozi, or metal thread embroidery, was popular across the subcontinent from the 17th century onwards and saw application on clothing and accessories made for important occasions.
